So many great props and photos...I think this is their finest year.

The Haunt title in the previous post - Creepy on Coolidge - got me to thinking of the oddity of the Haunt Name. I remember coming up with Pumpkinrot for an old email address and just thinking it was cool, and then trying to name the scarecrow below and it just seemed right to call him PUMPKINROT.
We should have known when we tasted the eaves,
Breaking them off like toffee
And cramming them into our mouths.
And the dear little windows, the color of coffee,
And chocolate doorknobs,
And windowpanes striped with mint.
We should have guessed at the chimney smoke,
White marshmallow fluff.
Taken the hint
From the marzipan bricks
And the fenceposts made of bone rubble.
But it was only when we saw the witch
That we knew we were in deep, deep trouble.

I'm a guy who typically dislikes any kind of LED tea light. They seem dim and never realistic. And most are light orange, not the neat bright white of a real candle flame.
I was initially going to use real candles in the ANGELS' hearts and in the green CHURCH staffs around the KINGS, but I realized early on that would have been foolish due to the heat and the potential for accidents (a lesson I ignored from the big votive stand I built).
Each of these green-glassed jars had three LED tea lights in them. |
I used two LED teal lights for the hearts. |
If you look real hard and mentally filter out the cornstalks, you'll see them. Not really sure how I could have made these more visible without painting them a lighter color (which would have been a mistake I think)...
Man, this is the kind of cool news that'll make it feel like Halloween hasn't gone anywhere...
