The Pennsylvania Ghoul

Documents released Friday offer new detail on how investigators assembled their striking case against Jonathan Christian Gerlach, who authorities say desecrated dozens of graves to steal human remains.

Gerlach, 34, who is charged with stealing more than 100 skulls, bones, and body parts from Mount Moriah Cemetery, also posted dozens of photos of human remains on social media, records show, and authorities are investigating whether he may have offered to sell them.

Geez, and my family thinks that I'm morbid? This guy takes it to another level.

I think this probably marks the first time I've seen anything about a Pennsylvania cemetery where I didn't have some feeling of envy.

They're usually stories about an incredibly beautiful environment and legacy, wonderful stonework and design, a well-respected / cared for history, etc.

This definitely goes the other direction and is pretty horrific.

Moreover, it also seems to connect to Jeremy Pauley, who recently pleaded guilty to conspiracy and interstate transportation of stolen property (e.g., human remains), which also connects to Cedric Lodge (and four others), the morgue manager for the Anatomical Gift Program at Harvard University.

Yuck.

I guess some people are not satisfied with artificial props - they want the real deal.
