One of these days, I'm going to figure out how to incorporate the humble pumpkin candy bucket into the display.

Yes! I had such a vision in mind once, and liked it...
A castoff pail lying on its side, Milk Duds, Tootsie Rolls, and candy corn strewn about on the ground, and one giant hand / claw print on the side of the bucket.
Also in the vicinity, one small-ish shoe, and a Ben Cooper style mask (with broken elastic string, of course) lying amid the other detritus.
Unfortunately, it (along with my Linus tombstone idea the same year) was vetoed as 'Too Grim' by The Committee, so the quest continues...
Your basement catacombs are just as delightful to view as your Halloween night haunts! The heat is really getting to Mr. Haunted Eve this summer. The fall can't come soon enough!
