Wow...that is beautiful.
I love old trees - occasionally you'll find the monsterous pre-historic Tennessee pin oak in these parts but the limestone base here doesn't provide as much in the way of root space as you'd find in the northeast etc. They tend to fall over before getting into that old-growth stage. Loves me some southern Live-oaks..
I love old stuff (like myself, for example...ha!). I was fortunate to be able to live in europe for @ 8 years and made every opportunity to see the ruins of just about everything! (even took a horse-riding trek around Stonehenge!) that tree has seen so much-I like to imagine all the people that have been in contact with it and wonder what like was like for them...
Thats is beautiful. Its my new wallpaper too
