Behind The Scenes At Weta

Found this neat video.  If you haven't seen KRAMPUS (you should probably go this weekend) this video contains a ton of spoilers.
Love seeing stuff like this.  Reminds me of the old Industrial Light and Magic days of movie magic.

Just watched this. So cool to see old school practical effects being used so extensively. Great designs, great, fun holiday film.

Wouldn't that have been a hoot if they had simply flown you out to Weta to work on these! Rot, did you do all of the snowmen designs? I adore the abominable looking snowman!! Fantastic creations!

I'd say about 80% of what i designed ended up in the film.
I would have LOVED to have been there

Me and my girlfriend saw Krampus December 5th for her birthday, and obviously we loved it. And every time we saw the snowmen we'd whisper to each other "Pumpkinroooot!" Definitely loved your designs, and I want to try and recreate some one day out of big blocks of styrofoam.

Wow--what a cool video! Perfectly old school...I totally remember watching "making-of" specials like this as a kid. Practical effects are just in a class of their own. No CGI will ever come close to the realism, presence, and charm of a handcrafted monster. VERY awesome that Mike insisted on it for Krampus. =]
