Scarecrow Atelier

Even though Instagram is the place to be these days, it's always nice to find folks using Flickr.  Instragram is great, but it's not the best when data-mining for Halloween blog content.  And don't get me started on how everyone views everything on a small phone these days.  Last Halloween I found myself only taking photos in portrait format so the details wouldn't be insanely small on an iPhone (I'm officially 98 years old).

And if you're near a laptop, use it to view these photos!

He has some truly INCREDIBLE work, both with props and his photographs of them.

I appreciate that blogger allows you to click on the image to get the full-sized version. Like you said, compression rates on most other social media sites really wreaks havoc on those details.

To be honest, Instagram is a blessing but also a curse for me. On the one hand it gave me the chance to share my beloved hobby with other people. But on the other hand it's also frustrating when the format and image quality is restricted.Everything you love and live is shrunk to the size of a postage stamp without the chance to enlarge it and invite you to linger. study it in peace. Reminds me a bit of fast food. I then looked for a platform that could offer more. Gives you time to enjoy. So I chose Flickr. There are probably much better ones, but that's enough for me. I'd be overwhelmed with more anyway. Being born in the 70's I just presume the right to say I'm too old for all this newfangled shit haha I am so overwhelmed that my works are appreciated by you professionals. And thank you Rot for always presenting my work to the public. Without you, hardly anyone would notice. Thank you for everything.

My pleasure. Your work is amazing. And I feel pretty much the same as you do about IG. I'm grateful for its ease and the exposure. I'm just missing the old days pre-iPhones. Studying Haunt photos full-size on a laptop or desktop even.

Damn this guy is good at what he does. An old barn is the perfect setting for Halloween.

Let’s hear it for us old guys. Some really amazing stuff you are doing SA. Your recent IG post about female scarecrows got me thinking. And I apparently, need to discover this new Flickr thing. 🎃
