A veritable treasure trove!
After scrolling through several times, I ended up down a rabbit hole after seeing how many years 'Big Chuck' was included in the various activities.
The names of the duos were unfamiliar to me, but there were references in there from the late 70s through the mid-90s, which seems like an incredible run(!), so I figured they must be a Big Deal in that neck of the woods.
It reads as though the show / hosts even managed to stay focused on horror / sci-fi all the way up through 1996 when the station was acquired, and format changes were made.

As a man who grew up watching Dr. Shock, I share your bummer sentiments. Watching him on Saturday mornings was a significant part of my youth.
I had never heard of Big Chuck until I watched a documentary on horror hosts (Featured somewhere on this blog). I looked him up after viewing it and found some hilarious sketches with Lil' John. "A Half A Head of Lettuce"
And I totally agree about Briggs. A hero for sure.
“Dr. Paul Bearer” was the schlock horror host in my area growing up.
Seems like Svengoolie is the only one holding the fort these days.
You can't talk about the subject of late night horror hosts without talking about their queen, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Watched her every Saturday night for years. It was the only place to see the Vincent Price Poe films.
