As For The Bus... Some Say It Sank So Deep That It Couldn't Be Found

It happened thirty years ago, on a late Halloween afternoon.  A school bus was on its usual route, but this wasn’t your typical school bus… and they weren’t your typical kids. There were eight of them, and they were… different… troubled… disturbed.

Trick 'R Treat

Had the great pleasure of seeing Trick 'r Treat on the big screen last night.  Was so much fun to finally see it as it was initially intended - BIG.  So many details were now very visible, and even something like the shiny pelts of the Werewolves were just popping on the screen.  And seeing The Halloween School Bus Massacre large-scale was something that I never thought I would experience.  It was so loud and so crisp that the film took on a delightfully cruel element.  As the movie is definitely a tad brutal.  And I think with repeated viewings I forgot that it was truly a HORROR movie.  Irreverent, harsh, and off-color... and hilarious.  And sweet.
If it's in your town, I would highly recommend a viewing.  My theater was charging eight clams per ticket.  That's a crazy great bargain for such an experience.

On the way home I spotted a house I've passed for years with its faux cemetery up for the Halloween season.  Each year I would think to myself "This is the year I pull over and get photos."  And each year I'd tell myself I'll get it next time.  Well, this year I pulled over under a glowing October moon and took some photos.  A perfect way to end the Trick 'r Treat outing.

Samhain Cemetery

All these traditions,
jack-o'-lanterns,
putting on costumes,
handing out treats,
they were started to protect us,
but nowadays...
no one really cares.

- Trick 'r Treat, 2007

I care, Steven Wilkins.  I care.

"Super-Deformed Style"

Straight from the cult status film Trick 'r Treat comes Sam, the enforcer of the rules of Halloween. Part pumpkin, part supernatural being, Sam shows no mercy to those who disrespect his holiday.

This Sam is presented in our signature super-deformed style. He may look child-like and dressed for trick-or-treating, but Sam is the personification of Halloween itself. He stands nearly 6" tall and features 5 points of articulation. He comes complete with his ever-present trick-or -treat sack, and his half-eaten translucent pumpkin lollipop.

Sam is packaged in a specially die-cut window box suitable for display. Just remember, he can watch you from inside the box, so don't blow out your pumpkin until midnight.

Digital Decorating

AtmosFX, Legendary Pictures, and filmmaker Michael Dougherty have joined together to create a stunning new digital decoration that captures the spirit of Dougherty’s 2007 indie horror classic “Trick ’r Treat.”
The AtmosFX “Trick ’r Treat” Digital Decoration features Sam, the mysterious child in the burlap-sack mask, who ties together the feature film’s intertwined Halloween-themed stories. These all-new vignettes will remain true to the theme of the original movie, in which Sam dispenses his own unique brand of grisly justice on anyone who does not adhere to the traditions of Halloween.
Like its R-rated film counterpart, this digital decoration features horror-themed content and is not suitable for younger audiences.
AtmosFX’s “Trick ’r Treat” Digital Decoration will be available as a high-definition (1080p) digital download in late September, 2016.
