Old school.
Wow! I've always wondered what the original Jack O's would have looked like! The idea of carving a turnip just boggles my mind!!!
I keep meaning to carve one, then it hits me, turnips are hard! Maybe someday, but, I like the ease of scraping squash guts!
Wow--I bet those are hard to carve. But they did it back in the day, so I've always wanted to try! I bet carved turnips last longer than pumpkins too, because of their thicker skins.
