Halloween was the time she figured most prominently in our thoughts. First because she was a witch, of course, and second because of a time-honored ritual among the neighborhood children concerning her and ourselves and that evening of the year.

Is that in the Halloween collection OCTOBER DREAMS? I love that book. I bet I have read it at least five times.

Yeah, that book is a Halloween must-read. I wish they'd do another one with new stories and Halloween memories.
That would be wonderful, but I don't think the other one sold as well as they would have liked. One of my friends wrote a short story for it.
Always spend the end of September and beginning of October with that book in my hands every night. Must be about 6 years running now and no end in sight. And that story is one of my favorites.
