My earliest recollection of a "home" haunt was in 76 when I was a wee lad and the kids I was spending the summer with outside of Detroit put on a Haunted Garage with spooks made out of trash bags and wires etc. I didn't fully grasp it then but a year or so later in West Palm Beach I ventured into a church-run haunted house and it was absolutely terrifying. I was expecting sheet covered ghosts like on Gilligan's Island and maybe a Wolfman or Frankenstein but they instead went full on blood bath, decapitated people, chopped-off legs and scary women chasing you in the dark. I was mortified utterly. I had to be escorted out of the building and when I got out my bicycle was stolen! And here we are now.
