And it's so nice to see a giant room that isn't CG with CG people standing in it. Meanwhile this film had TONS of CG special effects which are pretty dated and not the greatest in a lot of scenes, but the story makes you love it all. Because the entire point of this film is the story and not the effects.
I totally agree. It almost fits into a whole different niche for a sci-fi. Spacey but not weird. You don’t see a lot of sentient aliens. Alien life is creatures that may be domesticated or just attack you. Humans can be normal or advanced/ evolved like the ethereals or those changed by the underverse. ( which I wish was more explained)
I agree with the "spacey but not weird." The movie feels huge. And it created an entire Universe that felt lived-in. And interesting. I just checked and the budget was comparable to one of the Star Wars prequels. Meanwhile it had massive sets and tons of cast (and was terrific). And Star Wars had five actors and nothing but green screen. haha
