Two of the greats!
The story with Donald Pleasence was like WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS long before WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS. I loved it.
Yeah, shame this one doesn’t get more love!

One of my favorites from my very early years. I had seen the movie a couple times in the 80's, but I recall seeing it for the first time when it was on TV during the afternoon when Halloween fell on a Sunday, so it had to be 1982. One of the reasons it sticks in my head is because it was the last time I ever went out trick-or-treating. I lived in a rural area and was 12 years old at the time, and had not intended on going anymore (always had to go to a another friend's neighborhood or my aunt and uncle's neighborhood, but my friend had called that afternoon while I was watching the movie, saying he and my other friend were tasked with taking their younger siblings out trick-or-treating that late afternoon and asked if I wanted to come over and join them. We went as hobos. The outing was over rather quickly because even the road my friends lived on didn't have many houses within walking range. So the movie marks my last time trick-or-treating. The movie itself was very enjoyable for an anthology. I loved the concept of the monster family tree and will forever know what a Shadmock is.
Wow. Thank you so much for sharing that memory. It is absolutely terrific. And bittersweet.
I remember seeing this movie, 2 of the all-time greats. Any movie with Vinny the P(that's what Elvira called him) is worth watching, even the Tower of London, where he is drowned in a wine barrel by Boris Karloff.
