Looks like in another week or so Home Goods will be fully stocked for Halloween. Was neat seeing Johanna Parker's designs there. We didn't pick anything up, but it was fun browsing.
And regarding those Unicorn skulls...

Mrs. Haunted Eve has been taking photos of all the Halloween goodies in Home Goods as well. And Mr. Haunted Eve loves Darkness from Legend! Also loves the swamp witch from that movie. OK, Mr. Haunted Eve loves the movie Legend. End of story.
It really is on the way, isn't it?
I mean, July is almost halfway over now, and I think I'm beginning to feel it. I know we still have the brutality of August to contend with, but still...it is coming.
Seeing things begin to pop up in the stores is proof, and that jack-o pattern toile is really something else! (I have NO idea what I'd do with it, but it almost doesn't matter)
Also, I'm of the opinion that the title 'Legend' may really just be referencing Tim Curry in the role of Darkness.
(One additional note since 'Legend' came up, and in case it wasn't universally known, The Director's Cut has the original score from Jerry Goldsmith. So, the film has both the Tangerine Dream soundtrack AND Jerry Goldsmith options available for everyone's listening pleasure / moods!)
Agree about the title of that movie.
Huge Goldsmith fan here. I listened to Goldsmith's Legend score many moons ago and hated myself for agreeing with it being replaced by Tangerine Dream's. It was terrific, but just didn't feel like a great fit. I'm objective enough to admit that this is probably nostalgia speaking, as there is no way to know how I would feel about this score had it been attached to the film from the very beginning. And listening to an isolated score on a cd is not the same thing by far as hearing it used in the film. So I need to get my hands on that edition.
Funny how digital media is eliminating things like commentary tracks and alternate scores. Mind you, I don't miss having bins and bins of cds or dvds!
Yep, it's impossible to get around the indelible mark of the original score, and therefore very difficult to have an unbiased view.
However, while it feels borderline heretical to say, the Tangerine Dream soundtrack really does seem to fit better. (GASP!)
Ultimately, I guess I feel like the atmosphere established by their approach just seems more appropriate to the 80s glam-fantasy / lucid dream that I think I'm watching. The Goldsmith version, beautiful as much of it is, feels like it's serving something more in the mold of traditional / epic fantasy to me.
I gotta get over there before all the good stuff disappears.
Tim Curry is legendary in this film(get it?).
Haha
I have enjoyed listening to both Legend scores for years. I love both of them for different reasons. I have to agree that the TD score fits the film better (edgier?) but the Goldsmith score on its own transports me SO much further. And...they are both CDs.
I forgot to mention that the Homegoods stuff looks like a lot of fun! Too bad, around here we often don't see any Halloween until well after 'back to school' stuff is done. I wish they would get their priorities straight!
