Spice

We stopped into a Yankee Candle store to see what their new fall scents were all about. The only one that really appealed to me was Kitchen Spice - sweet orange, clove, ginger, and cinnamon. A light scent which wasn't floral at all (unlike the rest of the new fall candles).

Someone at the Yankee plant is always throwing a flowery scent in the mix. Come on, Yankee, fire that guy. And at the very least, don't let him near the Halloween candles.

That's too bad. I've noticed that as well with other candle companies. If something has "fireside" on it, it shouldn't be flowery, soapy or cologney.

I was told by a yankee candle clerk that the "Witches Brew" scent was their best seller so I thought I would give it a try.....

I didn't know witches brewed with great smelling flowers.

Witches brew is a Patchouli based scent with cinnamon and cedar. It didn't come off as flowery to me. That was my favorite from last year. I thought it was a great concoction! Of course, foolishly,I bought a little candle first when I went back for more it was COMPLETELY sold out. I hope they bring it back this year.. I'm not skimping w/my purchase this Halloween! >:D

Yankee Candle is having their Boney Bunch Event August 6th. That is the best day to show up (in store) and see their Halloween items.

Hhm. Lacking in the true spirit of Halloween eh?

Maybe you could try your hand at candle-making. I bet you'd come up with some wild shapes and smells.

Jeremy said: I am usually very disappointed with Halloween inspired scents that come from big buisness like yankee. I only buy from dark candles now, after a recommendation from rot I checked them out. I LOVE the crypt moss, bonfire, falling leaves, clove, and coffin scents. I only have a few left, must restock!!!

Awesome to know!! Thanks! I'm definitely going to check it out. If anyone wants to make money, buy a couple Boney Bunch and sell them back on e-bay when the sell out from Yankee Candle. The prices they were selling for on e-bay was astonishing!

.....and then you walked out of the store and realized you now had a massive migraine from the overwhelmingness of awful scents.

I keed, I keed ;)

I know, cut Yankee a break, right? But seriously? Nobody else thinks their candles have been on the decline? They used to be awesome...then that floral guy got hired.

I burn a Granny Apple Smith Yankee jar and a Creamy Caramel Yankee jar.
My house smells like a giant caramel apple!
Also, the Spiced Pumpkin jar is hella powerful- light one of those babies and Halloween is on.

Yankee Candle has a Blue Ribbon candle line that is brand new. I purchased the "Apple Pumpkin" candle last night in their store.
It is pure apple scent and pumpkin scent. No floral.
It is in a jar with metal top.

Haha, seriously! That dude should not be working there ruining all the Halloween scents. I'll bet that as the season starts going, you will find many other lovely Halloween candles that will really do the trick.
