Although what really strikes me about this comparison is how much larger the area looks in the Halloween image... Either those are huge rocking chairs or the props aren't *quite* life sized? (Mine never were!)
awwwww!!! you shoulda left the Graces up!! it's the perfect spot & time of year for a Befana sighting.
& speaking of Xmas Witches & Halloween versus Xmas. Lovecraft loved both Holidays. i don't understand why Xmas & Halloween are kept separated SO much. feels strange & wrong to me.
Christmas By H. P. Lovecraft
The cottage hearth beams warm and bright, The candles gaily glow; The stars emit a kinder light Above the drifted snow.
Down from the sky a magic steals To glad the passing year, And belfries sing with joyous peals, For Christmastide is here

Egyptian Christmas By H.P. Lovecraft
Haughty Sphinx, whose amber eyes Hold the secrets of the skies, As thou ripplest in thy grace, Round the chairs and chimney-place, Scorn on thy patrician face: Rise not harsh, nor use thy claws On the hand that gives applause- Good-will only doth abide In these lines at Christmastide!

I think you may have a bit of a bias, Rot!

most of my older props weren't quite life-sized, but these actually were!
I have them pushed further back off of the porch slab...maybe that's it.
and those are very large rocking chairs. I pondered the same effect...it's like the Tardis out there.
That's a lovely porch in any season.

Had no idea.
Thanks for posting those!
While Halloween is still my favorite, that snowy porch evokes such happy memories of Michigan winters. Miss it!
