Scarecrows

Once I said to a scarecrow, “You must be tired of standing in this lonely field.”

And he said, “The joy of scaring is a deep and lasting one, and I never tire of it.”

Said he, “Only those who are stuffed with straw can know it.”

Then I left him, not knowing whether he had complimented or belittled me.

A year passed, during which the scarecrow turned philosopher.

12:15 AM: Halloween

Short video of the first fifteen minutes of Halloween.  After setting up the display all day in order to take night shots, it began to rain.  I went out on the porch and covered what I could with plastic sheets.  Then I shot the below video...

Beyond The Wall

The Californian winter was on, and the incessant rain splashed in the deserted streets, or, lifted by irregular gusts of wind, was hurled against the houses with incredible fury. With no small difficulty my cabman found the right place, away out toward the ocean beach, in a sparsely populated suburb. The dwelling, a rather ugly one, apparently, stood in the center of its grounds, which as nearly as I could make out in the gloom were destitute of either flowers or grass. Three or four trees, writhing and moaning in the torment of the tempest, appeared to be trying to escape from their dismal environment and take the chance of finding a better one out at sea. The house was a two-story brick structure with a tower, a story higher, at one corner. In a window of that was the only visible light. Something in the appearance of the place made me shudder, a performance that may have been assisted by a rill of rainwater down my back as I scuttled to cover in the doorway.

Rainy Halloween

Weather: The Ups

Checking the weather the week of Halloween is masochistic.
Now it seems all the rain has been removed after today.
And I'm totally falling for it.

Rain

Notice how there are days of rain forecasted after Halloween here in Eastern PA.  Historically speaking, that usually starts to move forward a few days as the week progresses.  What a strange hobby this is.  So dependent upon the weather. 
Wish I had a giant leak-proof barn to Haunt. 

Time For Human Sacrifices

A good friend of mine sent me her Halloween forecast.  I'd personally die if this was what I was dealing with.  Die, I say.

Weather

Not too shabby, though I ain't buying it just yet.

Extended

Always startling this time of year when the extended forecast reaches Halloween (well, the 30th).
Naturally, as is custom with these stupid models that never seem to be accurate past one day (and not even), it seems Halloween might be a wet one.

10 Day Forecast

It always gets crazy real when Halloween shows up in the 10 day forecast.

Currently Halloween is supposed to be AWESOME (which means rain).

More sun than clouds. Highs in the upper 50s and lows in the low 40s.
