I saw one of these guys up close once. He/she was hanging out in its web strung between two trees. I couldn't believe the size of it, so I went in for a closer look. I got REAL close, probably three inches from it - my nose perfectly centered with its abdomen. Then the wind blew. I never screamed so loud in my entire life. It was all a blur, but I'm pretty sure it touched the tip of my nose.

OMG
Now I have major heebie jeebies.
LOL
Yes. You don't want that bad boy on your face. *shudder*
I was standing under a tree at night and one of those guys (Although I swear it was bigger and furrier) almost landed right in my hair/on my shoulder.
I *hate* spiders.
That looks like the "banana spider", as it's called in the local vernacular. Years ago, I ran through a copse of trees, and literally had 8 to 10 of these hit me in the face. Good thing is, they are non-venomous, and harmless. I let them hang out at my house, on the porch corners, all the time.
Yes, I admit that I have screamed like a little girl.
I won't say how often, or under which circumstances, but it has happened.
Pure LOVE!
We have Golden Orb spiders around here (central Florida) that are very similar to that in the pic. The female is the larger one, with the male not even being half her size.
I don't like finding spiders riding with me while driving my car. :(
Scream like a little girl!? Well I nev.... o.k. maybe I did one time...but that is only because it was MUCH bigger and it landed on my face. :(
