There Was Only The Sky And The Wind And The Water And The Autumn Coming On Lonely.
"Strange," he said, softly. "Strangest thing I ever saw. She's been dead a long time."
He nodded. "Ten years, I'd say. There haven't been any children drowned here this year. There were twelve children drowned since 1933, but we found all of them before a few hours had passed. All except one, I remember. This body here, why it must be ten years in the water. It's not---- pleasant."
I stared at the gray sack in his arms. "Open it," I said. I don't know why I said it. The wind was louder.

Underlake
A neighbor's 22-ft. sailboat sank because mice had eaten the foam insulation over the winter, and the first time it launched water flooded the hull and dragged the nose under. The rest of the boat followed, drowning gracefully, like a ballerina taking a bow. It was probably still there somewhere, Nan thought, upright on the lake bottom, sails full up. Down past the cold layer, where the toothy, prehistoric pike trolled, down, down, to the dark vanished world, resting in the underlake, lazily rocking its mast while people went tubing and skiing, touching the surface of the lake with their slightness like water bugs.

They should make a horror movie about a Trader Joe's parking lot.

Let's Find Out About Halloween: Hard Cover
Had an evening filled with debauchery (Italian food and a martini [and maybe a lot of wine]) hanging with my brother, and the guy surprised me with a gift: a hard cover, library edition version of our favorite childhood Halloween book. Pretty cool gift I'd say. And neat as it has different coloring than the version we grew up with.... a neat pale blue ink.

Birthday Party
That birthday scene in SIGNS. I never really pondered the fact that some kid must have seen something moving through the bushes in the yard for all of them to have abandoned the cake and food like that.
The Hand
Looks like the remains were moved right after the collapse of the old wall... some secrets stay buried, apparently.

The Haunted (1991)
A TV movie that was pretty creepy back in 1991 and still holds up (for the most part).
