I'm way too excited about this news: General Mills is bringing back two monster cereals from the past - Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute, for the Halloween season.
I shall indulge in these fruity cereals.

So I am 32 and don't remember these two. Were they part of initial 5 characters? I only remember Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Frankenberry. Maybe this was before my time? I know even Boo and Frank were on hiatus for a while
An article mentioned that Brute was retired in 82, while the Mummy was retired in 92. I can't say I recall ever seeing the Mummy...especially that "recently."
Adam, pushing 44 here myself and I have ZERO memory of Brute Fruit at all. Maybe it was a regional thing and never made it in the south (which is where I grew up as a kid). As for Yummy Mummy, I have a somewhat faint recollection of it being on the shelves for a short time as some form of comeback for the monster cereals. It was during a part of my life when I had no interest in cereals and paid it no mind - came and went without any fanfare, figured it probably sucked.
I grew up in a time when the big three were not only breakfast staples but were on the shelves 365/yr. They were all I knew. So this whole hype-beasting that has the internet foaming at the mouth over these "other" two is totally lost on me.
I was born in 1970, and I don't remember either of them. To my surprise, I opened the cabinet and saw Fruity Yummy Mummy! I was like "OOOOOHHHH, WHAT'S THIS." ( As I was ripping the box apart)
Now I need to try Brute Fruit.
Halloween life is good.
Just turned 40 here (bOOyah) and I have no idea what those two cereals are. I don't think I've ever even heard of them. Hmmm...
Nor I, I believe I was too hopped up on Count Chocula during that time to remember anything else.
I'm about to turn 40 and don't remember them, but hubby is 45 and he remembers Yummy Mummy.
I was never the kind of kid to eat those types of cereal anyway. I don't care for weird, hard little marshmallows so as a kid I stuck with Trix and Honeycombs. And frosted flakes, frosted krispies, and anything else coated in "frost".
Hey, it's all good, I was always Booberry, while my brother ate Count Chocula. To have two more is very sweet! Nothing like reliving the childhood eating those cereals in front of the tv Saturday morning. Ahhhhhh!
I'm just happy that Target is going to carry them all with their old retro artwork. I like the old art more than the new computer generated graphics.
The even bigger news, Target will be releasing them in their original box art!
Everyone NEEDS to watch Dinosaur Draculas review of these cereals. He had them in his possession before they hit the shelves. The reviews are priceless..Rot you will get a kick out of this.

Thanks a TON for referring me to this guys site! I will officially have to take an entire day to browse this thing! It is the biggest epic time suck of childhood nostalgia I HAVE EVER SEEN! This guy has a ton of screws loose for sure but man is it the best retro site EVER!

My parents were the first occupants...and none of us remembered how it got there. We always pondered what frute brute tasted like. For a sticker had been erected in its red honor.

The sticker is absolutely still there.
When I was a kid, there was a ripped off sticker residue on my closet that resembled a profile face. About as big as a dinner plate. I used to talk to it during naptime. Nothing paranormal, I was just weird.
