For some reason, I've never gotten around to watching...I guess I'm afraid that doing so will fill in the blanks in a way that the artwork alone does not, and render it all less implied and more explicit?

It's probably past time to change that, and at least give the series a try.

For what it's worth, I feel like anyone that enjoys abandoned, haunted, or dystopian imagery probably owes it to themselves to check out Simon Stålenhag's work.

I can see that fear, though I was a huge fan of his artwork prior to seeing this and I don't feel it detracts in the slightest. It's much more minimal in this series than in his artwork, but I think it works. And it certainly doesn't diminish his style at all.

That's good enough for me...I'm going in!

And you can always stop watching if you feel it's tarnishing the memory!

Huge Stålenhag fan. Supposedly movie rights for "The Electric State" were acquired by the Russo brothers, so we could be getting some darker, more dystopian Stålenhagian tones coming to the big screen!

Hey, that's great news. I didn't know that.
