What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

ORNL trying to open door to parallel universe

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Scientists at Oak Ridge National Labs are trying to discover parallel universes. Now, after several years of searching, they have revealed what they’ve found so far.

The team of physicists have been searching for evidence of a “right-handed version of our left-handed universe.” Specifically, scientists said they are looking for a “mirror neutron” by sending neutrons - one of the particles that makes up atoms - into a tube with a blocked end, then seeing if any make it to the other side.

I refuse to Google this, but surely there's some council on this earth that has to be consulted when experiments start dabbling with such notions as breaching another parallel universe or creating a mini-black hole. Some Council of representatives of all nations of the earth who weigh the risks to the rest of us?

Like if I have to get a fishing permit to fish in a specific lake, SURELY scientists have to get some kind of approval, right?

“So the question I get the most is, were we successful in opening the portal? And unfortunately, no, we did not find any evidence of parallel universes or or new interactions with with the neutron and the Dark Sector,” scientist Leah Broussard said.

"Unfortunately"... I think you mean, "Thank goodness"

Maybe the scientists that ARE successful are the ones we don't hear about because the Council sweeps them under the rug and destroys their findings...

Much like knowing what the gift is before opening it. Thinking something’s, I’ll just wait and see. Don’t want to spoil the surprise.

I say this as I'm watching Stephen King's "The Mist" - The movie reveals that a government project to discover other dimensions was underway at a military base, and that scientists may have opened a doorway into a dimension containing the creatures invading the town.... sound familiar, best leave it alone.

My first thought was of that fun film. And those horrid spiders. And that GIANT at the end.

Definitely feeling some H.P. Lovecraft vibes with a mixture of The Walking Dead. I just noticed about 1/2 the actors that starred in The Mist also starred in The Walking Dead. Can't go wrong with either.
