Thank goodness for our doughty forebears...we owe them all a great debt for their willingness to forge ahead with those uncooperative tubers until the far more versatile pumpkin could take center stage.

That is one massive turnip. I can see a potential trip to the emergency room carving this thing.

That's a rutabaga and when they come out of the ground, they are quite soft or at least the ones I grew this year are. But as they age they harden up. So look for a friend who is growing some.

"the fine print"...hahaha! I was thinking almost the same thing...this looks like a good project to do while sitting in front of the TV. There has got to be a better tool to use than a melon baller.
