Friday

Currently 54 degrees with a mild breeze.  Clove incense in the garden and a lot of plans for the weekend...  picking up some cornstalks and pumpkins, hanging with friends to go apple picking... and then some appropriate Oktoberfest activities.  I need this workday to end immediately.

The Haunt build has gone well, and everything is just chilling in the basement waiting for the big day.  I had a chimney guy in the house a week ago and we went down into the basement.  And as I always say to anyone going down there:  "Just a warning - this house is really into Halloween."  He technically was the first outsider to see what we have in store for this year's "1987" Display and I'm delighted to say it was a very big hit.

When the weather turns like this, it's almost an electric feeling, with thoughts of orange lights, leaves blowing in the street, and rustling cornstalks.  There are scarecrow festivals, pumpkin fields, and chilly spooky nights ahead.

And if you missed it, here's a little teaser for this year's Haunt.

Very exciting - I would love to be a fly on the wall of your basement.

Just got some little goosebumps reading this...it is to the point where the air is fairly crackling with that special thing!

For the first time in what seems about three forevers, even our forecast for the week is all highs in the 70s, and despite having just raked (collected & stored, really), the front yard is already once again festooned with brown and orange evidence of summer's surrender.

It's amazing that the build is already wrapped and ready, and that you're able to just enjoy fall activities at this stage. (I'm trying hard to be in that position by the 1st, and then just cruise and really enjoy October)

We have to give the HVAC furnace techs a similar disclaimer regarding our basement. Back at our old house, circa 2003, we were having some chimney work done. Two older masons were talking to each other in Italian as they were going down our basement stairs, after Mrs. Haunted Eve opened the door to the staircase and turned on the lights in the basement for them. They came to a dead stop on the stairs, proceeded by complete silence as they saw our old "Dracula's Crypt" prop sitting at the bottom of the staircase landing. And thus the implementation of the "disclaimer warning" for all visitors going into our basement from then on out! Mrs. Haunted Eve joked about that one incident and how at the moment she had the urge to slam the basement door shut with an evil laugh and turn off the basement lights.🙃

Like very much. Your house walkway entrance lends itself very well to your displays. I'm curious as to how many people you get on an average Halloween.

Under a hundred I think but I’m never sure

I can't wait to see this! 1987 - cool year! Love the garden photo and your use of driftwood just adds to the eye candy.
