do you guys have a lot of Halloween decorations, like (store bought) figures etc?..& how do you budget yourselves with new finds each year?

I don't think we have a lot of stuff by way of halloween decorations. Seems like in the past there'd be a lot of things I'd see in the stores that I really wanted to buy...so I'd try to be sensible and buy the one thing I knew I'd regret not buying. But lately, there really haven't been many things out there that really screamed "take me home." And most of the stuff we have bought the last few years was from home goods...and that's crazy affordable...I think the large iron owl on our mantle was only nine bucks. Nuts.
But we both have accumulated lots of little cool things over the years, so it's always fun to take them out for the season. Though a lot of it is out all year long in bookcases and bookshelves.

you? gots a lot of STUFF? : )

sometimes, i think i have a lot of stuff, but i'm such a fidgety decorator, i can't really tell. i get antsy & just start squeezing the Halloween in with the other stuff. i really should take some things down when the Halloween goes up, but it's like i want to see everything ALL the time..haahaha
i gotta work on the way i handle seasonal decorating.

I was so disappointed by our local country store's Fall/Halloween open house. They had a TON of Primatives by Kathy but none of your stuff. :( Also, I kinda feel like most decor has already been "done" before and it is truly hard to find unique pieces that do scream "take me home" that are also affordable. It just rarely happens it seems.

There's two stores I have no excuse not going to. Never been to either one though we have one called Stat's in Pasadena that is a hoot for Halloween stuff. I guess we are pretty lucky!! But I can never figure out why the local Homegoods and Target are so dismal in their offerings compared to the east coast. Go figure.

Sara said...

Autumnleaf, not to be all stalker, but where the heck do you live? I'm not too far from Stats.:)

Sara, I'm in Monrovia.

Sara said...

Wuuuuut??? :) I'm in San Gabriel! :) Cool. Monrovia has crazy amounts of ToTers. We did that two years ago and were overwhelmed with the wall to wall kids and people. We did South Pas last year and it was more mellow. Anyway, small world!

A stalker-friendship is born.

Sara said...

Lol. Right?? Notice how silent Autumnleaf is. ;)

Rot said...

hahaha

Autumnleaf said...

Lol!! Not silent, I just went away for a little while :) Small world indeed, Sara! Have you been to Stat's lately? I went at the end of July and they had quite a lot of Halloween out already. I'm alittle sad to see they sold out some storefront to Dean and Delucca and some other franchise but I guess it kept the doors open for Stat's.
We DO have a lot of Toters up here. Not sure why.
Hey, does this make us the first West Coast Pumpkinrot groupies?

Lol!! Indeed it does! Although I think Shellhawk lives out near LA, no? It is sad about Stars selling property. It just isn't the same during Christmas. Soooo overpriced and a bit dusty. I make the trek every holiday season though. I grew up going every year. :) nice to meet another SGV resident on here!

i'm WORSE than a stalker.

Bubblehead aside, that was my thought as well, G6. I always feel like a New England transplant in the land of palm trees and swimming pools. It's nice to know there ARE other local people in love with 'the season'

girl6 said...

Yes Autumnleaf, i think it would be lovely if you & Sara were able to meet up for lunch & maybe a little Halloween shopping as well.
i think you guys would have such a FUN time!. :)
Sisters in all that is Halloween.<3

i didn't mean to traumatize ya Rot. :(

^ Completely, Autumnleaf. I do enjoy myself some palm trees and swimming pools, preferably together at a resort somewhere lol, but I cannot WAIT for Halloween! <3
