Mr. Rot: I'm thinking of carving my pumpkins this year before halloween night, so they will age and have more character. How many days/weeks before the 31st do you suggest to carve them so they are nice and juicy by candle light on the big night? Many thanks.

We did that back in 2007 and it worked out great. I'd suggest doing it three or four days before Halloween. They mold and wrinkle up pretty fast. I kept mine indoors until the big night and I'm thinking that made them rot a little quicker.
