Getting the build officially underway is such an exciting time! Thinking, sketching, and muttering to oneself is all fine for a while, but is no substitute for the real thing.
I know I'm probably looking mid-May before I can get rolling (due to current adulting-type obligations), but am definitely chomping at the bit.
BTW- I love the battle-damage on the bottle of Elmer's; that guy has seen some things..
That’s so funny about the battle damage. I usually start later as well but my plan is to build a decent number of new props this season and I started to get nervous about the timing.
I have a couple prop notions for this year that are definitely going to be on the involved side, AND for the first time ever, I'm leaning towards having everything out and running for the last full week of the month instead of just The Big Night...so, basically, like a true knucklehead, I'm artificially compressing my own timeline
Excited to see what you conjure up! Totally unrelated to the main subject of the pic and description but I'm curious about the handsaw.... any idea of the maker/company and age? I am an intermediate hand tool worker and collector and handsaws are a particular interest of mine. Is it used as a tool in prop building? Keep up the great work and inspiring post/ pics!
I just scanned the saw for any kind of markings and there are none at all. That saw has been with my family for a very long time. My dad owned let me take it, and it was from his father. I use it often, as I'm not a big power tools guy, so this saw has been used in almost every Yard Haunt since I've been building. Which is pretty neat now that I think about that fact.

I definitely hear you on the nervousness front.
