I spent four hours on the internet and I couldn't find one single case of a 16-year-old girl's heart just stopping. I spoke to three different doctors and not one of them could tell me exactly what happened to my daughter.

Black Dust
I moved into an apartment in NJ 5 years ago. After one year or so I started to see what appeared to be black dust floating down from the ceiling or like black ink being dripped into water. At times I thought it just to be that of dust, but I tried catching it and it was gone or nothing there. I thought maybe I was seeing those colors you see after you look at a light for too long, but then my cats started to react.

There's Nothing Wrong With The Radio. Must've Been The Station.
In the cold room at the University, we had a cadaver, a cadaver from which all limbs had been amputated. Some time early this morning, it opened its eyes and began to move its trunk. It was dead, but it opened its eyes and tried to move!

Dunkin' Pumpkin
Stopped at a Dunkin' Donuts this morning and asked when the pumpkin spice varietals will be arriving (I said "pumpkin spice stuff") and the nice lady replied "It's here now! The signs go up on Sunday!"
Currently drinking a large iced pumpkin coffee.
Dunkin' does pumpkin right.
Saw these awesome mugs there.

The Spook House
This apartment was suffused with a faint greenish light, the source of which I could not determine, making everything distinctly visible, though nothing was sharply defined. Everything, I say, but in truth the only objects within the blank stone walls of that room were human corpses. In number they were perhaps eight or ten--it may well be understood that I did not truly count them. They were of different ages, or rather sizes, from infancy up, and of both sexes. All were prostrate on the floor, excepting one, apparently a young woman, who sat up, her back supported by an angle of the wall. A babe was clasped in the arms of another and older woman. A half- grown lad lay face downward across the legs of a full-bearded man. One or two were nearly naked, and the hand of a young girl held the fragment of a gown which she had torn open at the breast. The bodies were in various stages of decay, all greatly shrunken in face and figure. Some were but little more than skeletons.

The Morals Of Fear
I've mentioned it before on the blog, and this photo got me to thinking about it again. I saw that Slenderman in the woods there and wondered what it would be like to leave a tall figure like that unattended in an area with some foot traffic. Like what would rational people do when seeing something like this? No hidden cameras or anything (though that would be GREAT). But then my mind always wanders to folks with weak hearts. Or police getting called and wasting resources/time/money on discovering that it's just a hoax. Not to mention the fact that I might be breaking some laws of some kind.

I joked at work a year ago that I wanted to be responsible for the next great legend in Pennsylvania. The Legend of the Stick Man. I'd build some scary figure out of sticks and put him by the side fo the road, and pull him back in if the car stops. But then I thought of a car going off the road due to the shock of seeing something that shouldn't exist.
So I guess the question is: Is it illegal to frighten people?
Buzzkill Update (I guess it is illegal):
S 240.20 Disorderly conduct.
A person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, with intent to cause
public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk
thereof:
1. He engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening
behavior; or
2. He makes unreasonable noise; or
3. In a public place, he uses abusive or obscene language, or makes an obscene gesture; or
4. Without lawful authority, he disturbs any lawful assembly or meeting of persons; or
5. He obstructs vehicular or pedestrian traffic; or
6. He congregates with other persons in a public place and refuses to comply with a lawful order of the police to disperse; or
7. He creates a hazardous or physically offensive condition by any act which serves no legitimate purpose.
Case Of The Mondays
How can a Monday at the office get any worse?
A giant cockroach can be spotted running under the filing cabinet next to you.

Step Lanterns
The walk up to our porch is kinda dark. All night long last Halloween I was worried about kids tripping up or down the steps. I was kicking myself for not planning ahead.
We swung by a Big Lots today and they had some fun Halloween stuff out in the aisles. Located nearby were a bunch of tin and glass lanterns. $4 each, so we grabbed two to accent and light the danger zones this year on the walk to the porch.
A decent size too. Those are tea lights inside (they come with cintronella votives).

The Pact
We watched this a while back and really enjoyed it. A nice spin on the classic ghost story. And each scene is beautifully shot. The trailer doesn't do the film justice, it's much more low-key than it suggests.
