We stopped into HomeGoods yesterday and an employee told us that she heard the Halloween stuff was going to be put out next weekend.
CRAZY early, but the Halloween freak in me is excited.
Though it'll stink if their Christmas junk starts pushing the Halloween items away come cooler weather.

Rot, do you have any rules for Halloween that you set as far as starting too early etc?
(FYI..as I typed is question, I realized how stupid it is to ask you this!)
For example, I am torn on whether or not to look at that Pottery Barn preview. I love getting the catalog in late August and being surprised. I also won't drink pumpkin beer until mid September.
I can't wait! I am going to start checking places like TJ Maxx for discounted Halloween. Last year I found a Pottery Barn-esque life-size mummy at one store for like $90.00........ Still kicking myself for not getting it but really who has $90.00 for a mummy, right?
Make some mummys, Rot. Then charge less than $90.00.

Yeah..90 is still high in my book for something that probably wholesales for 10 bucks.
And I'm always up for Halloween shopping...I would LOVE an all-year Halloween store, but I really prefer shopping in weather that doesn't require air conditioning : )
Never found a year round Halloween store... but I am hopeful. The nearest Homegoods is about 3.5 hours from me....well worth the trip IMO!
We're a crazy lot.
A long drive to see Halloween merchandise is TOTALLY worth it.
We'll hit up starbucks and get pumpkin lattes and excitedly drive listening to Halloween music. It's a great part of Autumn.
Yeah, there's nothing like buying some Halloween loot, then walking out of the store into 90 degree temps.
I've been debating whether to peek in at Michael's and Home Goods on my way home from work to see if Hallowe'en is showing up, yet. I'll give it another week or so... It's like Christmas for me, but with zombies! :D
That's how it goes, sadly. I remember last year they had their Halloween items out around August. Yet, when I went back in October to buy (more) things, all the Halloween things were gone, and Christmas had taken over.
Yeah...in the City that Never Sleeps....We have two( maybe more) year round Halloween stores in Manhattan. Halloween Adventure and Abracadbra. Its the real hardcore stuff not so much the decorative indoor and the prices are high...
The all-year Halloween store near us isn't very classy but it is fun when you need a fix and it's huge!!:)
Yeah, I have a Home Goods a couple of minutes away from me. I Check it out next week. Fingers crossed!
@Sara: 90$ IS too much! I always look at something and say "could I make this for a fraction of the price?" Seems as I get older, I usually buy propwise just skulls and such.
I bought one of those lifesize owls at Michael's yesterday for about 15 bucks and it killed me to open my wallet. I even had a coupon....
That's how my recent trip to garden ridge was, lots of skeletons, decorations, inflatables, etc.
Stunned to see them so early, but it just seemed wrong walking out into a muggy 90° day.
Man, last year we got a home goods just 10 minutes away from us, if that. I was so excited about it, after all the pictures of your Home Goods Halloween stuff. They start stocking it and, low and behold, it's WELL below average. I was so disappointed.
I *LOVE* their Halloween stuff! I cannot wait Rot! I'll have to make the 30 minute drive up there next weekend to see what's shaken ;)

Went to Michael's yesterday to return something and they have 2 whole aisles of Fall garlands and what not. They also have a couple end-caps of Halloween decorations. Like some potion bottles and little signs, I snapped a couple pics. The promotion posters say Glitter & Ghouls, I guess it's this years theme.
Nothing too impressive tho. :/
center city, philly, is Very limited for Hardcore Halloween shopping..Really bummms me out. :(
but...sometimes, the "Ross" will get a few earthy, rustic items in & they can always be revamped & customized more to your own taste.

believe it or Not, sometimes the drugstores (especially Rite Aid) will have some cool Large skellies, witches, etc, that you can snag for a fairly cheap price & jazzing them up to your preference is actually pretty easy.
You can use a a 2 part product called "Aves", which is Super Easy to use..You can actually sculpt over any item using Aves...say if you wanted to customize a mannequin head, just go over it with Aves, sculpt or detail however you want, let it dry & paint it..i can help you, if you like.
AND...i Can't think of any better way to spend a day, then just driving around & checking out Halloween treasures!!!.

I was in my Homegoods store this weekend and no signs of anything fall/Halloween. They tend not to have too many aisles worth when they do have it, but then, I'd only feel it was "enough" if the whole store were full of Halloweenies.
When they do start getting in shipments, I'm there EVERY WEEKEND. Have to make sure I get the best choices when the trucks come. I rarely go to Homegoods throughout the rest of the year, but at the magical time of year, they all know me by sight. It's the only time I go to Michael's, too.
Oh, and there's a year-round Halloween store in Fairmont, WV called The Illusive Skull. Two floors of costumes, makeup, decorations (although not a lot) and sometimes they have classes on makeup related stuff. RJ Haddy, season 2 finalist on Faceoff, did some classes there (he's from Charleston, WV).
Don't forget thrift shops for Halloween goodness. My father brought me a giant box of new, vintage, and primitive Halloween decor that he got at a thrift shop for $10. All of it was beautiful and purchased in June.
Just today I went to a local shop and got two medium sized, rustic pumpkins, a large luminary one, and a hand carved primitive witch. All for 3 bucks :)
